Dr. Dharmine Ehamparam, BMath, OD

Dr. Dharmine Ehamparam graduated from the University of Waterloo’s reputed optometry program in 2008 with honours as well as with a Bachelor of Mathematics (Hons Computer Science) in 2005.

She has gained invaluable experience training with retinal specialists in the diagnosis and management of retinal diseases (diseases affecting the back of the eye). With the epidemic of diabetes and obesity, she has a special interest in the early detection and treatment of diabetic retinopathy.

Affectionately known as Dr. Dharmine, she also strongly advocates the importance of early eye examinations in children. She has had much experience in the detection and management of amblyopia in children (also known as “lazy eye”). A mother herself, she has a heart-felt interest in children’s visual development and the in prevention and control of myopia (near-sightedness).

Dr. Dharmine Ehamparam is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists. She can speak Tamil and is a welcome help to her Tamil-speaking patients in navigating their ocular health concerns.

 

Dr. Casthoory Viswanathan

Dr. Viswanathan graduated from the University of Waterloo in 2012 with degrees in both Honours Biomedical Sciences and Doctor of Optometry. She completed an Ocular Disease externship at a Cataract and Laser Eye Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. Here she was involved in the treatment and management of a variety of ocular diseases including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, optic neuropathy, and corneal ulcers. She has had the privilege of volunteering in Cameroon, Africa to provide eye care to those who otherwise would not have received it. It was here where her interest in ocular health and pediatrics sparked.

Having worn glasses since the age of 9, Dr. Viswanathan discovered early on the positive effect good vision has in enhancing one’s quality of life. She is passionate about helping others and enjoys building lasting relationships with her patients. She has a keen interest in myopia control and ocular nutrition, and actively integrates both into her practice. She is fluent in Tamil.

Dr. Viswanathan is an active member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists, Ontario Association of Optometrists, the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control, and is an affiliate doctor with several of the laser centers in the area.

She enjoys travelling, and her interests include fitness and nutrition.

 

Dr. Priyannga Vigneswaran

 

Dr. Priyannga Vigneswaran graduated from McMaster University with a Honours Bachelor of Life Sciences degree in 2010. She then moved to the United Kingdom to attend Optometry school at Aston University, where she graduated in 2015. After completing additional training at University of Waterloo, she completed an ocular disease externship at Clarity Eye Institute in Toronto. Here she worked in conjunction with ophthalmologists of varying specialities (retina, dry eye, glaucoma, oculoplastics, anterior eye) where examinations included managing eye disease such as AMD, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, RVO patients, etc.

She is currently an active member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists and Ontario Association of Optometrists. Her clinical interests include managing diabetic eye disease as well as dry eyes. 

Dr. Shanjeevan Bhavan

Dr.Shanjeevan Bhavan grew up in Scarborough and received a Honours Bachelors of Science degree from McMaster.He then went on to receive a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 2020.

He completed an Ocular Disease Externship at  Scarborough Eye Associates working with retinal surgeon, Dr.Jordan Cheskes where he got exposure to a vast array of retinal diseases.

In addition, he has worked in various private and speciality practices managing a variety of eye conditions. Dr. Bhavan is excited to provide eye care to all ages in the Scarborough community. His clinic interests include myopia control, and dry eye disease.

He is an active member of Canadian Associations of Optometrists, and Ontario Association of Optometrists.

Dr. Tiffany Khoo

Dr. Tiffany Khoo received her Bachelor of Science from Queen's University. She graduated with her Doctorate of Optometry from MCPHS University, School of Optometry and completed her residency at the University of California- Berkeley in Low Vision Rehabilitation and Ocular Disease. She has had the privilege of taking care of patients at the California School for the Blind and LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired in San Francisco.

Throughout her studies, Dr. Khoo has volunteered at health screenings with local churches and elementary schools and organized eye care mission trips to Nicaragua and Honduras. She continues to volunteer with the Special Olympics Lions Clubs International Opening Eyes program. 

Dr. Khoo is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) and a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists.
